FaceAway follows an on-device-first principle and explains face data handling explicitly with minimum data use.

What we collect

  • Account data: FaceAway is designed to work without mandatory sign-up and does not require account profile collection for core usage.
  • Permission data: camera/photo permission status may be processed only to enable requested features.
  • Service usage data: app version, OS version, and minimum technical error logs may be processed for reliability.
  • Image data: selected photos are analyzed on-device for automatic face detection and manual privacy masking workflows.

Face Data

  • Face data means face regions detected within user-selected photos for the sole purpose of applying mosaic or blur effects.
  • FaceAway uses temporary face region information, such as detected face boundaries, only for automatic masking, manual adjustments, and editing review.
  • FaceAway does not use face data for identification, recognition, profiling, authentication, advertising, analytics, or tracking.
  • We do not create or retain face templates, facial embeddings, biometric identifiers, or any separate database of face data.

How data is used

  • Provide automatic face detection, manual masking, and mosaic/blur editing features.
  • Save editing results, metadata-stripped outputs when selected, and preserve user preferences.
  • Analyze errors and improve app quality and stability.

How image processing works

  • Automatic face detection and editing are performed entirely on the user device using the selected photo.
  • By default, source photos and face data are not uploaded to external servers for core processing.
  • Output images are stored in the user device gallery, with optional metadata stripping on supported save flows.

Retention and deletion

  • Face data is retained only temporarily during on-device processing while the selected photo is analyzed and edited.
  • Temporary processing data, including orientation-corrected working files, is deleted after processing is completed.
  • If the user saves an edited result, only the final edited image is stored in the user device gallery.
  • We do not retain face templates, biometric identifiers, or a remote face database.
  • If deletion support is requested, support can guide the request process through [email protected].

Third-party sharing

  • Face data is not shared with third parties.
  • Source photos and face data are not uploaded to our servers for face detection or editing.
  • FaceAway does not sell personal data or share face data for advertising purposes.
  • Exceptions may apply only when required by applicable law.

Policy updates

  • If this policy changes, updates are announced through official channels including in-app or website notices.
